Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been achieved on hardcourt
A comeback Medvedev won his initial championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.
This represents his initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface from that period of 2023.
The win also signifies he has secured 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.
His defensive approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.
He came back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The pair traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour title, took control to create a decider.
The opponent saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, he secured the win with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
